Myntra started its journey in 2007 as a B2B venture for gifts, but has now transitioned into a full-fledged popular e-commerce platform. By 2012, Myntra had 350 Indian and international brands on its platform, and this number is still growing. 

Myntra has become India’s best fashion, beauty and lifestyle portal with over 55 million active users every month, a dedicated social media following, a loyalty program dedicated to its most loyal customers and attractive offers and deals on its products. It is popularly known for its wide range of fashion, clothing, and accessories.

Who is a Myntra Seller?

A Myntra seller is a registered business or brand that lists its products on the Marketplace. Myntra lets you sell products across a range of categories, including fashion, footwear, accessories, personal care, beauty, and lifestyle.

Unlike Amazon or Flipkart, Myntra focuses on premium brands and high-quality products.

Eligibility to become a Myntra Seller

To be eligible to become a Myntra seller, you need to have-

1. Registered business

The business can be a partnership firm, a private limited company, a sole proprietorship firm, or a limited liability partnership.

2. GST Registration 

The GST registration number of your business will be required.

3. Brand Ownership/Authorization

You need to show brand ownership documents (trademark certificate) if you are the brand owner or manufacturer. If you are a distributor, reseller, or importer, an authorization letter or a no-objection certificate (NOC) will be required from the brand.

2. Jewellery and Accessories 

Sellers have the opportunity to list a wide range of fashion accessories, both for men and women, on Myntra. These Accessories may include jewellery, a watch, a belt, sunglasses, and other trendy accessories.

3. Beauty and personal care products

Sellers specializing in skincare, haircare, makeup, fragrances, grooming kits and other wellness products can also list their products.

4. Sports and Active Wear

For many people, Myntra is a go-to e-commerce platform to shop for sports and activewear. These products may include gym wear, athleisure, sports equipment, and fitness gear.

5. Footwear

Amongst the fashion accessories, Myntra is also popular for footwear and offers a diverse collection of sneakers, formal shoes, casual footwear, ethnic shoes and sports shoes.

Myntra Restricted Product Categories: What You Can’t Sell

Myntra sells a wide range of items, but there are a few items which are strictly prohibited; these are:

1. Illegal Items

Products that violate any laws or regulations.

2. Objectionable Content

Products containing offensive, illegal, or inappropriate material.

3. Inappropriate Content

Items with content that is deemed unsuitable for the platform

4. Healthcare Products

Products related to healthcare, including medicines and medical devices, are not permitted to be sold on Myntra. 

Myntra Seller Fees and Charges

Myntra does not charge any onboarding fees, but all new sellers are required to pay a one-time growth enablement fee, which is deducted from future payouts on the platform. This fee is used to provide access to product listing ad credits worth 2x the growth enablement charge and partner insights platform in order to help sellers accelerate their growth.

Below are the 2 plans that Myntra offers to its eligible sellers:

If you want to choose the ₹25,000 growth enablement plan, you should accept a separate document available on the Myntra Partner Portal before the store goes live on Myntra. Once you do that, a fee of ₹25,000 will be applied, and related benefits (higher ad credits) will be activated.

Note:- Before you launch as a seller, review Myntra’s latest fee policy on the seller's portal and then decide which plan you want to go for. Myntra can change or update the fee structure at any time. All the changes will be announced through the seller portal.

Myntra Seller Commission Charges

Myntra charges a commission fee on every transaction, along with supplementary charges for services such as packaging and logistics.

Myntra generally charges a commission ranging from 4% to 5% on products.

Myntra Selling Mode

As a Seller, you are required to select a business model to fulfil your customer orders.

You can choose to opt for either or both of the options below:

1. PPMP: Pure Play Marketplace

Under this model, the sellers can store, pick and pack orders, while Mynta takes care of the logistics for order delivery and return.

Let’s see how this works- 

  1. The customer places an order on the platform
  2. Seller fulfils order, performs QC & Packaging
  3. Logistics sorting followed by shipping happens in the Myntra hub
  4. Customer receives items from Myntra logistics or 3PL
  5. Seller receives returns. Which he accepts/ Rejects
  6. Bagging, as per the seller, happens
  7. Customer raises return request & hands over items to ML/3PL

This helps in timely dispatch as sellers can ensure timely delivery, and this will help them keep the order fulfillment rate high while having full control over the fulfillment process.

2. MSA: Myntra Smart Assist

MSA is a model where your inventory is stored, packed & fulfilled by Myntra from its own warehouses to the customers. 

A few Benefits of this model are:

  • Better Event vs BAU management by predicting & moving inventory closer to the customers

Although these 2 models are different, they have a few similarities:

Myntra Seller Registration

Before you start selling on Myntra, there is a registration process that you need to follow. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to register-

Step 1: Visit the Myntra Seller Portal

Visit the Myntra Seller Portal and click on “Register Now”.

Step 2: Fill out the Application Form

Provide required information like your business name, contact information and category of the product you want to sell.

Step 3: Document Verification

Upload scanned copies of GSTIN certificate, cancelled cheque with your business name printed, brand authorization documents(if applicable), NOC(if applicable) and warehouse details.

Step 4: Verification and Onboarding

Myntra will verify the information and the documents provided. This process will take approximately 15 business days. Once your profile is approved, you will receive the login credentials for your seller account.

Myntra ORDER MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (OMS)

1. M-DIRECT/ MYNTRA DIRECT

Myntra used its own order Management System (OMS), with its primary seller-facing feature, which is M-Direct. This OMS is to manage orders, inventory and fulfillment.

2. THIRD PARTY API

You have an option to choose a third-party API. This API will be funded and managed by you. A few of them are Increff, Browntapem Unicommerce, etc.  

Using the third-party API will enable you to have centralized control over inventory and orders across all your platforms.

From the above 2 Order Management Systems (OMS), choose the one that best suits your needs. Whichever model you choose, there will be a few things which will remain similar between these 2 models:

  • Forward & Reverse Order flow will remain the same
  • Same commission, logistic charges, and claims process in case of dispute
  • Payments & settlements will also happen at the same time
  • Operational Reports & Data Insights will remain the same 

Prerequisites for Operational Readiness

Before you start selling, make sure you have the following things ready-

1. Infrastructure Requirements

  • Thermal Printer: This is required for printing shipping labels and tax invoices
  • 4×6 inch Barcode Labels: Required for Single barcode labels for packaging
  • Barcode Scanner:  To pick and sort the products efficiently

2. Packaging Requirements

If packing orders at your location, you must use Myntra-approved paper-based packaging from authorized vendors.
