Devutthana Ekadashi, also known as Prabodhini Ekadashi and Dev Uthani Ekadashi, signifies the end of the four months of Chaturmasya, when God Vishnu is believed to be asleep.
It falls on the 11th day (Ekadashi) of the Shukla Paksha (waxing phase) in the Hindu month of Kartik, which is on 2nd November, in 2025.
Significance of Devutthana Ekadashi
According to Hindu mythology, Lord Vishnu rests in the cosmic ocean (Kshir Sagar) for four months during Chaturmas, a period from Ashadha Shukla Ekadashi to Kartik Shukla Ekadashi. Thereafter, the festival of Devutthana Ekadashi marks his awakening.
This day is considered an auspicious day, as it marks the beginning of the wedding season along with pujas and other religious events.
